Sooo Nintendo has announced their new system the WiiU, and I have to say I'm kind of dissipointed. Nintendo is promising to start making hardcore games again, but it seems like this is still going to be marketed towards casual gamers. Yes, there have been some harder games that have been announced for it ie: Arkham City, but then again did you guys know that Modern warfare came out for the Wii? and guess what: it sucks.
One of the more shown features of it is the ability to actually play the games on the controller screen itself (for those that don't know the controller is a mix of an iPad and gamecube controller). while making games that combine both screens leaves alot of possibilites (a new fatal frame or Pokemon Snap?), it just seems unnecessary. isn't this what a gameboy is for?
And don't even get me started on the 3DS, I'll probably post on that later
They don't need to make "hardcore games" any more, they've got a good market doing what they are doing.
ReplyDeleteIf they made a console for games like CoD/MW, they would have to compete with Sony and Microsoft.
Oh don't get me wrong, their marketing is GENIUS. I have so much respect for their buisness model.
ReplyDeletei wish nintendo would come out with something cool
ReplyDeletetoo bad they're demographic is for little kids
looking forward to future posts, esp 3DS. Followed!
ReplyDeleteYeah Nintendo has always been more casual games, i think they're going to have trouble getting into the hardcore gaming market.
ReplyDeleteI saw at E3, seems really nice, maybe I buy this. Thanks for the info!
ReplyDeleteNintendo has lost all serious gaming applications.
ReplyDeleteWii U seems pretty cool lets hope it doesnt suck!
ReplyDeleteUrgh, the WII is so gimmicky, but the WII U takes the biscuit. What's their demographic, 5 year olds?
ReplyDeleteI love Nintendo even though I haven't purchased a release of theirs since the N64 haha.
ReplyDeleteAt the moment you can only use one of the new controllers per WiiU concole... hopefully that changes somehow
ReplyDeleteI think they should definitely stay away from the "hardcore gaming" market. They can't really alter their market now that they've been established for so long. Although I think the only game I've really enjoyed by Nintendo were the Super Mario Galaxy games.
ReplyDeleteI also am not a big Nintendo fan, as I love the N64. I just don't see how Nintendo can remain viable in the long run.
ReplyDeletehaha FPS games on the wii will probably never be very good
ReplyDeleteexcept duck hunt!
i was also disappointed. I thought they would announce a new system.
ReplyDeleteHey, the Wii U has some great potential with the second screen. You could have a second-person shooter, for example! I'm not sure about hardcore games, but all kinds of innovation could come out of that one.
ReplyDelete3DS on the other hand? gimmicky bullshit.
I did not know MW came out for the Wii and I am not shocked it sucks
ReplyDeleteIt seems like the paradigm is shifting towards casual gaming in general. I'm not liking it, but what can I do?
ReplyDeleteLets wait until the hype is over. Then will see.
ReplyDeletehaha mike it is a new system
ReplyDeleteNintendos very intresting with the new systems they come out with... id like to see what there introductory games are,
ReplyDeleteI still think it's going to be a pretty neat console, I'll wait to buy one though.
